Luncheon Planning Committee Interest Form

Please note: The first Luncheon Committee meeting will be on Wednesday, June 4, at noon. All other meetings will be on Wednesdays at this time.
Role of the Planning Committee

Children’s Friend supports Rhode Island children and families through programs like WIC, Head Start, Early Intervention, adoption/foster care, and Project Connect. We reached over 20,000 individuals in 2024.  

We seek new members for the Investing in Our Children luncheon Planning Committee. The luncheon is our biggest fundraiser and raised over $200,000 in 2024. This year’s event will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, in Providence. Committee members act as ambassadors, develop fundraising strategies, find donors and sponsors, organize the event, and contribute to fundraising activities. Ideal members are community-connected individuals or company representatives. 

The scope of work for the committee can include: 

  1. Acting as an Ambassador: 

  • Represent Children’s Friend and the Investing in Our Children luncheon within the community. 

  • Promote the event and our mission to improve the well-being of children and families. 

  1. Develop Fundraising Strategies: 

  • Assist in creating and implementing effective event fundraising plans. 

  • Identify potential donors and sponsors to secure financial support for the luncheon. 

  1. Event Organization and Logistics: 

  • Assist in planning and organizing the luncheon event. 

  • Ensure smooth execution of event logistics  

  1. Manage Fundraising Activities: 

  • Participate in fundraising initiatives leading up to and during the event.  

  • Engage in activities through personal solicitation or working with Children’s Friend staff to maximize fundraising outcomes for the luncheon. 

  1. Community and Corporate Engagement: 

  • Leverage personal networks to promote the luncheon. 

  • Partner with companies or organizations and involve them in supporting the event. 

  1. Participation: 

  • Attend at least four (4) of the seven (7) meetings (held on Wednesdays at 12 p.m.) between June and October 

  • Engage in both in-person and hybrid meetings to coordinate and plan for the luncheon. 

  • Purchase a ticket and/or volunteer your time on the day of the event. 

* We ask that committee members make suggestions of businesses/individuals to approach and, if comfortable, ask for support. Staff can also make the ask after an introduction is made.
