Interest Form: WIDA 2020 Train the Trainer for Enhancing Grade level Math and Science Instruction for all through a Multilingual Lens PD scale up

Description: DESE offered Enhancing Grade level Math and Science Instruction for all through a Multilingual Lens, a two-day PD designed to better equip core content math, science and ESL teachers that support them, connect and apply aspects of the WIDA English Language Development Framework to the Mathematics and Science and Technology/Engineering Frameworks to support grade-level access to content for all learners in the core classroom. Grounded in the philosophy of shared responsibility, accountability, and expertise as central to multilingual learner success, this workshop explores contexts for simultaneous implementation of the WIDA ELD 2020 Framework and its alignment with the MA Blueprint for EL success, the MA Frameworks for science and math, and Deeper Learning. To date, DESE has trained over 250 math, science, and ESL teachers from across the state, and upon completion of this workshop, DESE awarded them 15 PDPs that fulfill the requirement SEI, ESL or Bilingual Education educators need to renew their licenses.

This job-embedded 2-day workshop offering is designed to enable participants become certified facilitators for this PD and offer it in the local settings.
