2024 Intergenerational Series (Combined Youth Connection Café and Gathering for Earth)

This year, the Youth Connection Café and Gathering for Earth communities are joining forces in hosting four intergenerational workshops that address the intersections of youth and earth restoration with the Purpose and Principles of the URI. 

7 May: The Economy in our Ecologies, 7am - 8.30am PDT (Click here for your time zone) - Completed

The URI Preamble shares that, "We unite to use our combined resources only for nonviolent, compassionate action, to awaken to our deepest truths, and to manifest love and justice among all life in our Earth community." In this session we’ll explore examples of what it looks like in practice to meet the needs of all people and all living beings within the means of the living planet. We’ll hear from Grace Chilongo and her team from YEEM (Youth Empowerment and Environmental Management), who are implementing a sustainable cookstove project in Machinga District in Malawi. 

4 June: Earth Restoration to prevent violence, 7am - 8.30am PDT (Click here for your time zone) 
How is caring for our land and water connected to reducing violence where we live? On this call we will learn from two CCs and URI’s Violence Prevention team about the connections between our climate crisis and community conflict, as well as practices that can help us reduce conflict by caring for our land, water and all species

12 August (Monday): Rights of Nature includes all of us, 7am - 8.30am PDT (Click here for your time zone)
Around the world, young activists are filing lawsuits against their governments to make it clear that the next generation has the right to a healthy future. This session will focus on making change at the local and policy levels. 

5 November: Earth Rituals to guide us, 7am - 8.30am PDT (Click here for your time zone) 
Come and experience how rituals for healing our communities and Earth, also offer beautiful opportunities of intergenerational creativity and connection. This session will offer tools and support for creating meaningful Earth rituals to guide us in healing our planet and people.
