Draft Gender-Affirming Care for Adults Quality Standard: Public Feedback Survey

Ontario Health is seeking feedback on a draft quality standard on Gender-Affirming Care For Gender-Diverse People. Quality standards inform patients, clinicians and organizations about what high-quality health care looks like, based on the best available evidence.

About the Gender-Affirming Care Quality Standard:

The quality standard will focus on gender-affirming care and primary care needs of gender-diverse adults, including assessment, screening, treatment, and follow-up. The standard will address referral for gender-affirming surgery, based on clinical evidence, but not indications for specific surgical procedures. This quality standard is intended for use by people who are gender-diverse, their family members, informal care partners and support networks; clinicians, researchers, administrators, health services organizations and planners; and policymakers such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Long-Term Care and Ontario Health.

The patient guide for people receiving Gender-Affirming Care and their care partners helps people know what to ask for when receiving care and to ensure they receive the highest-quality care. The patient guide can be used by patients and their care partners to work with their health care professionals to develop a care plan that works for them.

This quality standard will be open for feedback from April 30, 2024 to May 21, 2024. The closing time is 11:59PM (EST) on May 21, 2024.
