Corporate Team Building Event at District Clay!

Thank you for inquiring about a Corporate Team Building Event at District Clay Center. We look forward to creating a fun, exciting, and safe event for you and your team.

We offer 3 types of events: wheel, handbuilding or both!

During a wheel event, you will discover that working on the pottery wheel is fun . . . and challenging. It requires eye-to-hand coordination, careful placement of your hands, and firm control over a rapidly spinning wheel. Don't expect to make a perfect pot. But you will be thrilled when you cause a cylinder to rise out of a solid lump of clay using your own two hands.

This event is designed to spur focus and concentration, expose people to a challenging and possibly frustrating situation (working on the wheel), and to confront a situation where the imperfect is the only possible result (it is very difficult to make a perfect pot on your first try.) The wheel offers multiple teambuilding opportunities including allowing participants to confront their own expectations and limitations in a safe fun-filled group environment.

During a handbuilding event, each person will go on their own creative adventure. You will be taught one or more of the following handbuilding techniques: Pinch, coil or slab-building. You will be using Air Dry Clay which does not require firing and means you can take your creation home with you. (Air Dry clay is not suitable for use with food or liquids.) In the process, you will learn basic handbuilding skills including using a variety of clay tools for decorating and texturing.

This event is guaranteed to spur creative juices, present interesting design choices, and to teach basic clay-building techniques all in a fun team setting. Handbuilding offers multiple teambuilding opportunities including making quick creative decisions, working creatively within a group, and gaining a deeper appreciation of each team member's unique creative approach.

During a hybrid event, you'll get to experience the best of both worlds!

It comes with a specially designed Team-Building Discussion Guide that participants can use if they wish.

Basic Info:

Cost: $85 per person; 6 to 18 participants.

When: We offer these parties on weekday mornings and afternoons, and Saturday nights. We need 4 weeks advance notice to schedule a party.

What it includes: 2 to 2.5 hours (depending on the number of participants). Instruction by a DCC teacher, clay and tools provided and a Corporate Wheel Teambuilding Discussion Guide. Also a full studio tour including our gallery, wheel room and kiln areas.

What we need: We need a 50% deposit to hold your event with any remaining amounts due 48 hours prior to the event.

What to bring: Wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting dirty - we recommend wear pants. Long hair should be tied back. If you wish, bring a small towel or apron.

COVID Vaccination Requirements: Anyone entering District Clay must have received the first two shots of the COVID vaccine. Masks are optional.

Important:

We can refund 100% of the deposit if you give us at least 48 hours notice that you cannot make a date. Under 48 hours notice, we can only be able to refund 50% of your deposit. Also, let us know if the number in your party changes. Because these events require set up time, any changes have to be received 24 hours before the event starts so that you can avoid being charged for people that don't attend.

On the day of your event, please be on time. Because we schedule multiple events as well as regular classes, your start and stop time cannot be changed at the last minute.

We do not offer slots on Sundays or Wednesdays as we have ongoing classes throughout the day nor do we offer evening slots on weekdays. Generally, the days we offer parties are on:

Thursday mornings to early afternoon
Friday mornings
Saturday evenings

6. Would you like to use District Clay's facilities for longer than the 2 1/2 hour session? This could include a pre or post team building meeting, eating a meal, etc. FYI: Use of a separate room is $100 for the first hour (includes room set-up with tables and chairs) and $50/hr for additional time.
