The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking suggestions for experts to be considered for the membership rotation or other engagement with the Space Studies Board which provides an independent, authoritative forum for information and advice on all aspects of space science and applications. It coordinates advisory studies and program assessments, facilitates international research coordination, and promotes communications on space science and science policy between the research community, the federal government, and the interested public. Using these suggestions, National Academies staff will be looking to fill up to three open seats on the committee of approximately 20 total volunteer experts and collecting information for potential speakers, participants, and other forms of engagement. Based on the Statement of Task and the continuing membership of the committee, staff is looking for expertise in the following areas:
- Space Systems Engineering and Technology
- Solar and Space Physics
We would also be interested in suggestions in the following areas:
- Astronomy and Astrophysics
- Commercial Space
- Earth Science and Applications from Space
- Astrobiology and Planetary Science
- Biological and Physical Sciences/Human Spaceflight
- Planetary Protection
