CO Indigenous Needs Assessment Community Survey

Community Survey

The Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs and the Colorado Department of Education are partnering with a research firm called Education Northwest to lead a study about how Colorado districts and schools support Indigenous students. As part of this project, we are hearing from administrators, teachers, and community members across the state about their needs and concerns for Indigenous education in Colorado.

In this survey, we use the terms American Indian, Native American, Indigenous, and Native interchangeably (See the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian for more information and guidance on terminology).

The survey should only take about 15 minutes to complete. There is no risk to you taking this survey, and nothing will change about your experience at your school or district if you do not participate. Your participation is completely voluntary. You do not have to answer any questions you don’t want to. Your response to the survey will provide important feedback about how the state is supporting Indigenous students. Your feedback will help improve services to Indigenous students in the future.

Your answers are confidential, and no one will be told how you answered any of the questions. Your responses will be stored on Education Northwest’s secure servers, only accessible to the Education Northwest research team, and only used for the purposes of this project. We will combine the answers from you and others in a report to the state. We will not put your name in the report.

If you have any questions about the research, you can contact Dr. Emi Fujita-Conrads at emi.fujita-conrads@ednw.org or at (541) 588-0566.
