BPHC Workforce Well-being Technical Assistance | Community of Practice 4 Application

Thank you for your interest in participating in one of the BPHC Workforce Well-being Technical Assistance Communities of Practice (CoP)! Please review the information below and answer the following questions, then hit submit to apply.
The Communities of Practice (CoP) are an important technical assistance opportunity designed for health centers who are committed to implementing, or are already implementing, workforce well-being initiatives. Each CoP focuses on a topic that addresses one of the key drivers of workforce well-being to assist health centers with creating, implementing, and evaluating individualized Action Plans. CoPs will comprise up to 30 participants who will meet for 90 minutes every other week over a four-month period. In addition, participants can receive additional optional technical support in between meetings during our scheduled office hours.

Topic: Caring for the Caregivers: Implementing A Lifestyle Medicine Approach
Date/Time: May 8, 2024 - August 14, 2024. Every other Wednesday (8 Sessions) from 2:00-3:30 p.m. ET
Main Audience: Patient-facing roles working at HRSA supported health centers
Staff from any HRSA supported health centers are eligible to apply. However, priority will be given to:

  • Staff of HRSA supported health centers
  • Clinicians and other staff who provide direct patient care
  • Applicants who can commit to attending or sending a delegate to all or most sessions and complete work between sessions
This Community of Practice (CoP) will focus on implementing Lifestyle Medicine as an approach to care for our staff and patients. Participants will develop confidence in building an environment that supports healthy habits like stress management and exercise. By gaining a deeper understanding of how their organization supports their own health behaviors, participants will be better equipped to support behaviors that impact workforce well-being and job performance. Participants will actively engage in the process of establishing a work environment that fosters healthy habits, thereby promoting resilience and preventing burnout among the entire staff of the health center.

By the end of this CoP, participants will be able to:
  • Apply Lifestyle Medicine principles to clinical practice.
  • Develop strategies for incorporating Lifestyle Medicine into their health centers, including structuring social supports for maintaining Lifestyle Medicine principles and leveraging inter-professional teams.
  • Identify elements in the workplace environment and culture that facilitate and/or hinder healthy habits and moral distress.
  • Develop an action plan to assess health center support for healthy habits, establish priorities based on needs, potentiate organizational change, and track changes in burnout, job satisfaction, and attrition.
