Application for Partners in Peace Designation

Begin the process for PIP designation by completing and submitting this application. Please provide demographic information requested, selection of track of emphasis*, supporting documentation for your chosen area of emphasis, and endorsement from university administration**.
*Institutions may apply for more than one track but should use separate applications.
**While this partnership exists between the Nobel Peace Center and NCHC, due to the prestige of Nobel and this unprecedented partnership, it is critical that all applications include clear institutional support for any projects proposed, are aware of the participation pledge for progress updates, and the importance of an eventual final assessment report.
The following procedure details the steps towards certification:

Complete this form and assemble the required materials.
Upon NCHC review, make any needed revisions and re-submit as needed.
Upon NCHC approval, enact the plan and respond to request for progress updates from NCHC (these will come through email).
Upon completion of the project, submit a final assessment report and summary of student outcomes survey (guidelines provided by NCHC).

4. SECTION II - PLEDGES
Please check off the following items, indicating intent to document, assess, and report progress towards completion of your proposal.

Indicate commitment, upon approval, to respond to up-date requests from NCHC on project progress towards completion.
Indicate commitment, upon approval, to prioritize completion of the project and submitting a final report (assessment document provided) to NCHC and NPC.
Indicate commitment, upon approval, to conduct and submit student learning outcomes survey (provided by NCHC) with your final report.

5. SECTION III – PROJECT DESIGN
Indicate a category of concentration between (A) Curricular or (B) Co-curricular and assemble required materials for submission:

Curricular - Approval requests the submission of a course description, policies, assignments and syllabus and please attach a course syllabus and the semester you will offer the course. Note the guidelines require:

- A course that involves the awarding of academic credit.
- An overt link to some aspect of the Nobel Peace Prize and/or Nobel Peace Laureate(s).
- A bibliography that reflects the link to the Nobel Peace Prize and/or Nobel Peace Laureate(s).
- Indication that a minimum of 60% of the course content and graded outcomes enhance student understanding of the aforementioned areas.
- Explanation of major assignments for the course and weight in the final grade determination.
- Syllabus including class sessions and topics covered.
Co-curricular – Approval requests submission of a project proposal. This category offers a great breadth of opportunities as any not-for-credit project can be considered. The spirit of this category involves making careful note of the year’s Nobel Peace Laureate (announced on the first Friday of the first full week in October and officially presented on December 10) from which students/faculty will design, implement, and assess some aspect of the laureate’s leadership efforts towards peace on a given subject within the campus and/or local community. While encouragement is given for offering these programs in the spring semester justification can be made for other time options. The major requirements for designation from this category include:

- Clear evidence of the project grounded in the Nobel Peace Prize and/or Nobel Peace Laureate(s).
- Overt emphasis on students putting theory into action.
- Clear goals/objectives of the project in attaining measurable results.
- Articulated plan on how results of the project are shared within the community with an eye towards promoting the work of the selected laureate within the campus/local community.
- Indication that the work involved for the project (planning, public relations, execution, assessment) reflects an effort that would involve between 30-50 hours.
