Before you start your application, gather and/or think about the following information:
School Information
- Number of students
- Title 1 designation
- Free & reduced lunch eligibility
- Approximate mode split (principals make really good guesses!)
- Any past or existing Safe Routes to School efforts
Project Partners
- Check with principal(s) or school district staff
- Think about other supporters and potential team members (teachers, public health professionals, parents, bike advocates, etc.)
- Line up letters of support
Community Information
- Has your community done any Safe Routes to School or active transportation efforts in the past?
- How have you engaged or will you engage with underserved communities (low-income, those with disabilities, families of color, or English-language learners)?
