Survey on Challenges Facing Nonprofits in Today's Political Climate

The Building Movement Project is conducting this brief survey in order to better understand how nonprofits are managing and responding to the current political climate and legal / legislative restrictions on core issues. We hope you will fill this out even if you HAVE NOT experienced any direct problems.

This survey asks about limits, threats and/or attacks your organization might have experienced or anticipates on issues such as affirmative action and other DEI efforts, transgender and other LGBTQIA+ rights, reproductive rights, and so on. BMP recognizes that these issues are often interrelated, and that it is important to understand how they affect nonprofit organizations. We plan to synthesize the results of this survey to provide valuable insights and recommendations for the nonprofit sector and philanthropic institutions.

It should take roughly 15-20 minutes on average to complete the survey. The length of this survey will vary, depending on how many issues have impacted your organization.

Because the survey asks about changes in funding, programming, etc., we strongly encourage organizational leaders to complete the survey themselves. Please fill out only one survey per organization.

This survey is CONFIDENTIAL! At the end of this survey, respondents have the option to provide their name, email address, and organization. BMP gathers this optional contact information in order to conduct follow up interviews for additional insights and stories. No identifying information about survey respondents will be revealed in the report that BMP will develop, which will provide important information about issues organizations are facing and the support they need.

Taking this Survey

Navigating the survey on the computer or tablet:

After completing all of the questions on the page, use the “next” button to proceed to the next page of questions.

Navigating the survey on a mobile device:

After completing a question, the survey will often continue to the next automatically. If not, proceed by clicking the forward arrow button on the bottom right of the screen.

After responding to the question “What best describes your organization?” and moving to the next page, you will now have the option to “save” the survey and continue later. This can be found on the upper-right portion of the page.
- Click on "save and continue later."
- Enter your email address twice and click on “save."
- Check your email. You will receive an email from “Survey Gizmo” with a new link that you will use to return to the survey. If you do not see the message, check your Junk Email folder.
