About the Behavioral Health Taskforce

The BHT is a diverse group of caring community members that includes members from law enforcement, mental health providers, crisis response providers, non-profits, school leaders, businesses, public health/human services, and community leaders who come together to collaborate to improve mental health in our area.

While we may feel mental health on an individual level, where we live, work, learn, play, and age significantly influence our mental health. This means that things that are based in the community such as educational opportunities, jobs that pay livable wages, safe and pleasant neighborhoods and community spaces, healthcare access and affordability, experiences of discrimination, and social connectedness can all shape our individual mental health. Our individual health and mental well-being are interconnected to the health and well-being of our families, friends, neighbors, workplaces, schools, and communities at large. Because of these interconnections and the influence of community factors on mental health, we can work collectively as a community for our community to improve the mental well-being of everyone living in Jackson and Cottonwood Counties.

The BHT meets every other month on the third Thursday. The meetings are hybrid, so you can attend in-person or virtually via a Google Meets link. The location of the meeting rotates between the cities of Jackson and Windom, MN.
