CDSS Bright Track User Account Requests

Form Instructions

California Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Operators may submit this form to request the following actions:
  1. Increase the number of California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Bright Track (BT) accounts beyond the 10 accounts allowed per institution.
  2. Reactivate a deactivated CDSS BT account.
  3. Deactivate an active CDSS BT account.
  4. Obtain certificate(s) of completion for a deactivated CDSS BT account.
Before completing and submitting this form, please read the following:
  • CDSS BT accounts are only to be established by key staff at institutions that have an agreement with the CDSS to operate the CACFP.  Per the CDSS CACFP Bulletin 2023–02, Training Requirements in the CACFP, key staff are defined as the institution’s authorized representative, program contact, or their designee(s), which include employees at an independent center or sponsoring organization with CACFP duties (e.g., menu planners, monitors, fiscal staff).

  • CDSS BT accounts cannot be established by vendors or facility staff (i.e., day care home providers and staff at sponsored centers).  It is the sponsoring organization’s responsibility to provide training for facility staff.

  • Upon submission of this form, the CDSS will contact the institution’s authorized representative and/or program contact (unless the form submitter is listed as one of these two positions in the Child Nutrition Information and Payment System [CNIPS] website) to obtain approval for actions 1, 2, and 3 listed above. The CDSS will not contact the authorized representative and/or program contact for requests to only obtain certificates of completion.

  • A CDSS BT account is not required to complete the annual Civil Rights training requirement and earn a certificate of completion.  The CDSS CACFP Civil Rights web page includes a link to the CDSS Civil Rights course in English and Spanish for CACFP staff who do not have a CDSS BT account.

  • For sponsoring organizations interested in hosting their own CDSS BT site to provide online CACFP training to sponsored homes and centers, please contact Brighton Training Group.  The Brighton Child Nutrition Training website also provides low-cost CACFP courses and California CACFP Operators receive a 25% discount on the cost of courses by entering 25% in the Apply Coupon field during checkout.
Please allow up to three business days for CDSS staff to respond to the request(s) submitted in this online form. For questions or technical assistance completing this form, contact the CACFP Training Team at CACFPTraining@dss.ca.gov.
