ACRP Program Descriptions

Legal

The ACRP's Legal Research Digest (LRD) series is focused on providing legal research on topics of interest to the airport legal community. The 11-01 Legal Aspects of Airport Programs panel is comprised of various stakeholders in the airport legal community. The panel responsibility for program oversight includes selecting research topics and providing technical guidance on each digest written.

Priority Issues

The airport industry often faces emerging issues for which rapid understanding of potential impacts are needed.  In these instances, traditional research may not be feasible, either because of the need for quick understanding or because there is no practice or information available.  The Priority Issues Panel will review, select, and monitor ACRP’s Quick Response and First Look projects.

Synthesis

The ACRP synthesis program documents airport practice. The 11-03 Synthesis of Information Related to Airport Practice panel provides oversight to the program by annually selecting project topics.

Academic Programs

ACRP currently manages two academic engagement programs: the Graduate Research Award (GRA) and the University Design Competition (UDC).  The ACRP 11-04 Academic Oversight Panel provides guidance to these two programs and is directly responsible for selecting and helping to guide the ACRP Graduate Research Award Winners.  Volunteers serve on the Academic oversight panel, serve as judges for the UDC, and serve on the individual panel for each of the GRA students.

The focus of the ACRP GRA is to foster applied research on airport and related aviation system issues by those who may become future airport managers, operators, designers, and policymakers.

The ACRP UDC engages undergraduate and graduate students at U.S. colleges and universities in the conceptualization of applications, systems, and equipment capable of addressing airport-related challenges in a robust, reliable, and comprehensive manner
