AAGL SurgeryU Video Competition - March Madness

SURGERYU - "The Mind of a Surgeon Video" March Madness Fellowship Contest!
Calling all AAGL FMIGS Fellowships! Have you ever performed a surgical technique
with such finesse and elegance that you couldn't wait to share it with your peers? Now
is your chance to showcase your skills to the world! Join us for "The Mind of a
Surgeon Video" March Madness Fellowship Contest!
We are thrilled to invite you to
demonstrate your surgical expertise through a captivating 3-minute first-person point of-
view (POV)
narrated surgical video. Instead of focusing on the entire procedure, we
encourage you to highlight specific technical aspects that demonstrate your mastery.
The contest aims to emphasize high-quality, edited surgical footage and its
associated technical nuances while also showcasing your decision-making process.

***Important to note:
  • Submissions to this competition are open to AAGL FMIGS Fellowships only.
  • Only ONE video can be submitted from from each Fellowship. Fellows can put both their names on a video submission together, and work on it together, but just one submission is allowed.

What we're looking for:
1 video per fellowship, bring your A Game! Participation is entirely optional.
Duration: Keep your video to 3 minutes for maximum impact and efficiency. Think of it
as an Instagram Reels or TikTok format.
Specific surgical technique: Instead of showcasing the entire procedure, zoom in on a
particular surgical technique to provide valuable insights.
Enhancements: The use of overlays, symbols, labels, and radiological images is
encouraged to enhance the educational value of your video.
Minimal slides: Avoid slide presentations; this contest is about engaging visuals and
your first-person narration.
First-person narration: Share your thought process and decision-making as if the
viewer is right there with you.

For example: "I complete ureterolysis on the left side in order to lateralize the ureter"
"I could see an avasuclar space at this point in time and thus progressed my dissection in this area."

March Madness Style Single-elimination: Depending on the number of quality
submissions, the tournament brackets will consist of the top 8 (elite 8) or 16 (Sweet
16).The winner of each head-to-head battle will be determined by SurgeryU Instagram
viewer polls.
