Future heat pump subsidies

We’re working to explore the challenges of the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and are coming up with recommendations on how to improve access and availability (or targeting) of funding to encourage households to switch to low-carbon heat. This work will run for the next two months until early January 2024. You can read more about it here.

As part of this project, we're contacting those involved in designing, delivering, or using the current heat pump subsidy schemes. We want your input on what is working and what may be improved.

Our ambition is twofold.

1. Identify any recommended changes to the current BUS scheme that may improve uptake.
2. Make recommendations as to the design of an ideal future low-carbon heating subsidy.
