The following application form is designed for tour organisers who are seeking insurance cover from British Rowing by affiliating their planned tour with British Rowing.
A tour would typically be seen as an outing which starts and finishes at different locations upon a pre-planned route. A tour can take place during a single day or multiple days.
For the purposes of this form the region or regions that a tour occurs in shall be defined as the region or regions that the affiliated rowing club(s) along the route are designated as part of their affiliation with British Rowing.
Insurance in this instance will be provided by our insurer, Marsh Sports. In order for Marsh Sports to insure a tour, the following conditions have to be met:
- All individuals participating (in a boat) in the tour have to hold one of the following British Rowing memberships; Row, Race, Coach and Umpire or hold a Scottish & Overseas licence with British Rowing.
- The tour organising committee must agree to promote RowSafe adherence by touring participants.
- A route plan must be submitted by the tour organising committee.
- A Tour Safety Adviser must be appointed who shall be responsible for the submission of an Event Safety Plan and Safety Rules together with associated risk assessments and Event Emergency Response Plan in compliance with the guidance in RowSafe in addition to the Welfare Plan to the Regional Rowing Safety Adviser in the region(s) in which the tour is due to take place a minimum of four weeks before the proposed tour date.
Additional key information
The tour affiliation application has to be submitted at least six weeks in advance of the date that the tour is planned to start. We cannot guarantee that the necessary requirements will be met to ensure insurance cover is granted if an application is made within six weeks of the planned tour start date.
Once provisional approval of a tour has been granted by the British Rowing Community & Membership team it will be listed on the British Rowing website
here along with other upcoming tours.
As stated above, all individuals participating in the tour require one of the following British Rowing memberships; Row, Race, Coach and Umpire or need to hold a Scottish & Overseas licence. The tour organiser will need to supply a list of individuals who are attending the tour and their membership numbers or Scottish & Overseas licence
one week before the tour is due to take place. The list will need to be emailed to
Membership@britishrowing.org. If you are using BROE2 to manage the participants you will not need to supply the list to the Membership and Community team.
Once a tour has provided the membership information requested and their safety documentation has been reviewed with no objections by the relevant Regional Rowing Safety Adviser(s)the British Rowing Membership and Community Team will then fully affiliate the tour with British Rowing.
If a membership is not valid or becomes due for renewal within the time frame that a tour is due to take place the insurance could be invalidated.
