Acquisition Proposal FY24

Acquisition Proposal

To have the museum consider your offer to donate or sell an item or to offer to leave items to the museum in your will, complete and submit this form, providing your contact information, information about the item, and clear, high-resolution images of the item.

The museum is primarily interested in materials associated with Native peoples of the Western Hemisphere, including:
  • Well-documented historic and contemporary items made by Native people
  • Historic and contemporary documentary photography
  • Archival material, such as documents, recordings, films, and other media
Reasons that an offer may be declined include insufficient documentation or background information, similarity to items already in the collection, or falling outside the scope of the museum’s collection, e.g., North American archaeological objects, contemporary manufactured or mass-produced items depicting Native stereotypes or mascots, and non-documentary work by non-Native artists, among others. The museum typically does not consider unsolicited offers of temporary loans, nor can the museum guarantee that donated items will be displayed.
