Pre-Selection Application for Attending the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting Dedicated to Physics

This form is the pre-selection application for attending the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting scheduled to be held in Lindau, Germany from June 30 to July 5, 2024.  The final selection of applicants will be carried out by the organizers of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. Travel and meeting expenses of the selected applicants will be covered by the meeting organizers. 

Please fill out the pre-selection application by Friday, October 13, by 5 PM ET.

The Lindau Nobel Laureate meeting brings together about 40 Nobel Laureates in Physics and some 600 highly talented undergraduate, master and doctoral students and early-career postdoctoral scientists in the field of Physics and closely related disciplines. These students and early career scientists will have the opportunity to share their research with laureates, attend lectures and build connections with international experts.

Students and early career scientists eligible to apply for this pre-selection process must:
  • Show exceptional interest and engagement in science and research.
  • Be at the top 5 percent of their class/show excellence in their principal field of studies.
  • Receive strong support in their application by their academic advisor and/or by an internationally renowned scientist, who can speak to the skills and abilities of the applicant as a scientist.
  • Provide a CV and a letter of recommendation (two letters are allowed; one is required).
  • Not have a permanent position or an independent group leader position as this is a criterion for exclusion except in special cases.
  • Not have participated in a previous Lindau Meeting.
  • If selected, respond and meet the deadlines set by the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings.
  • If selected, attend and participate at the entire meeting.
Please ensure the following requirements are reflected in your CV:

(1) Undergraduate students, who
    -- exhibit a solid general knowledge in the sciences

(2) Master and doctoral students, who
    -- show excellent academic accomplishments and
    -- have already produced excellent research work, e.g. documented by publications, conference presentations, and/or research awards/prizes.

(3) Postdoctoral scientists, who
     -- have up to 5 years of postdoctoral experience (optimum about 2-3 years after the doctoral degree),
     -- have published excellent results, preferably of own scientific research in refereed journals and as first or last and/or corresponding author,
     -- have presented their work at international scientific meetings, preferably as (invited) lecturers.
