Information Sessions

 
As an extension of the posted SEL Resources for Grades 1-3, DESE’s Early Learning team, in collaboration with volunteer educators, have drafted resources for grades 1-3 to support the development of skills related to the following Approaches to Play and Learning (APLs) standards:

APL2: The child will demonstrate eagerness and curiosity as a learner.
APL3: The child will be able to maintain focus and attention (3a) and persist in efforts to complete a task (3b).
APL7: The child will demonstrate organizational skills.

MA teachers in Grades 1-3 and/or elementary schools which include those grade levels are invited to pilot one or more of four new draft resources. Each draft contains a set of classroom/instructional activities, supportive teacher practices and indicators of mastery for children that are aligned with the competency area.

Piloting of the resources is expected to take place October through December 2023 and pilot sites will be asked to complete at least 3 to 5 Activities and 3 to 5 Supportive Practices from each resource they pilot. Information sessions with more information about the APL draft resources and the pilot will take place on September 25, 2023 from 3:00-4:00 pm and September 26th from 7:30-8:30 a.m. Teachers or administrators with any questions or interest in learning more about the APL resources/pilot or signing up to pilot one or more of these draft resources are encouraged to register below for the informational webinar.
