EOI - HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing

The Diploma of Nursing qualification requires a commitment of regular attendance to your learning, simulated practice, comprehensive assessment, preparation for the nursing work environment, and clinical work placements. ANMEC aims to produce high-quality graduates who demonstrate a commitment to the promotion of the profession of nursing.

2. Are you willing, and able to commit to 12 weeks of unpaid clinical placement on a 24 hour 7 day roster?

The Diploma of Nursing includes mandatory, unpaid clinical placement hours that are programmed throughout the course.  

The total is 12 weeks of successful full-time clinical placement which is made up of 2 weeks of aged care, 8 weeks of acute care in two 4-week blocks, and 2 weeks of a consolidation placement. All placements are on a 24/7 roster.

Students undertaking the Diploma of Nursing are expected to attend shift work hours while on clinical placement. For example, an early shift may commence at 7am, late shifts commence at 1pm, and night shifts may commence at 11pm.

2. COVID-19 Vaccination requirement

All students are required to have evidence of TGA approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccinations prior to course commencement and must have received the first, second and third dose.

2. Criminal History Requirements and Screening check

This course requires that participants comply with criminal history requirements for eligibility to engage both in the course and for eligibility to attend clinical placements.

You will be required to submit a National Criminal History check, and Department of Human Services (DHS) screening results for Aged Care, Vulnerable Groups, a Working With Children Check, and a NDIS worker check.

Failure to comply with these requirements may mean that the applicant is not permitted to commence clinical placements which will disqualify the applicant from completing the qualification.

Please note - A disclosure on a criminal history may not necessarily be a barrier to enter or complete the course, however it will depend on the disclosable outcome. You may choose to discuss further with the course manager prior to enrolment to determine whether the disclosable outcome may restrict/negate entry to the course or delay placement opportunities.

The Diploma of Nursing program is an 18-month full-time course delivered at ANMEC which consists of 2 days per week classroom attendance and 2 days per week of self-directed learning. 

Leave is ONLY programmed at the end of the calendar year and covers the Christmas and New Year Period.

2. Applicant English Language Skills Entry Requirements

Applicants wishing to enrol into the Diploma of Nursing program at ANMEC must be able to demonstrate English Language Competency prior to entry to the program of study. This is to comply with registration requirements with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA).

There are 2 entry pathways to choose from for demonstration of English Language Competency prior to enrolment:

Primary Language Pathway
English must  be your primary language. This means that English must be the language you primarily use for reading, writing, listening and speaking.

You must also have undertaken and satisfactorily completed at least 6 years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed solely in English, including at least two years between Year 7 and Year 12, and the qualification which you are relying on to support your eligibility for registration under the National Law was taught and assessed solely in English in a recognised country.

English Language Test Pathway
If you do not meet the criteria for the above Primary Language Pathway, then you must choose the English Language Test Pathway.

You must have achieved the required minimum scores in one of the following approved English language tests and met the requirements for test results specified in the NMBA’s English language skills registration standard.

2. English language test pathway

To demonstrate the English Language test pathway, you have achieved the minimum results specified by the NMBA’s English language skills registration standard, in one of the following approved English language tests (IELTS, OET, TOEFL iBT or PTE Academic): *This question is required.
2. International English Language Test System (IELTS) Academic module

The NMBA requires the IELTS (academic module) with a minimum overall score of 7 and a minimum score of 7 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking). *This question is required.
2. Occupation English Test (OET)

The NMBA requires the OET with a minimum score of B in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) *This question is required.
2. Test if English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT)

The NMBA requires the TOEFL iBT with a minimum total score of 94 and the minimum scores of 24 for listening, 24 for reading, 27 for writing, and 23 for speaking *This question is required.
2. Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)

The NMBA requires the PTE Academic with a minimum overall score of 65 and a minimum score of 65 in each of the four communicative skills (listening, reading, writing and speaking). *This question is required.
