Community Survey: Horse Racing Track to Housing and Green Space

What do you think?

Jonathan Sriranganathan has released an initial proposal for Brisbane City Council to buy 40 hectares of the 49-hectare Eagle Farm Racecourse site, and transform it from a horse racing track into parkland, native forest/bushland, public facilities and rent-capped publicly-owned housing. More details at www.jonathansri.com/racetrackproposal

We want your feedback on this idea!

(Anonymised survey results will be shared with local elected representatives and the general public)
Rough artist impression of our proposal for the future of Eagle Farm Race Track - What's your vision?
1. Are you generally supportive of the proposal to transform the Eagle Farm Racecourse into parkland, bushland/forest, rent-capped public housing and public facilities? (You can read more details at www.jonathansri.com/racetrackproposal) *This question is required.
2.

Our proposal includes 25 hectares of parkland, sports fields and native forest, 10 hectares for residential apartments with ground-level shops, and 5 hectares for public facilities like schools and libraries.

Assuming the general proposal to shut down the racetrack and repurpose the land is widely supported, do you think it achieves the right balance between different land uses? What would you like to see more or less of?

*This question is required.
3.

We are proposing mixed-use buildings up to 5 storeys tall, with a buffer of forest or parkland between the existing residential homes around the edge of the site. Most buildings would have ground-level shops and offices (with a few ground-level units for people with impaired mobility) and 4 storeys of residential apartments above.

What do you think of the height limit?

We'd love to keep in touch to let you know the results of this survey and fill you in on other proposals for the future of our city. The following information will be kept confidential, and will not be added to Australian Greens party databases, but will be used by Jonathan Sriranganathan, Greens nominee for Mayor of Brisbane, to send you further updates.
