Originally introduced in fall 1998, chapters and alumni associations may now once again recognize individuals who have provided outstanding service to Beta Theta Pi at the local level with the newly revitalized Distinguished Service Award.
The award acknowledges individual dedication and support to a chapter, house corporation or alumni association. As such, qualifications for the Distinguished Service Award are based solely on the nominator’s discretion.
Once a formal nomination has been received, it will be reviewed by the General Secretary and, if approved, produced and shipped by the Administrative Office for presentation to the honoree at a locally planned ceremony. A permanent record of individuals receiving the award, as well as their nominators, will be maintained by the Beta Theta Pi Foundation.
In its history, 21 individuals have been honored with the Distinguished Service Award. Though this recognition’s prominence has languished in recent years, the Fraternity enthusiastically endorses its revival and believes the need for publicly praising and appreciating individuals who volunteer precious time in support of our members and chapters is as important now as ever.
