DES Statewide Mentorship Program Survey

The Interagency Committee of State Employed Women (ICSEW) has teamed up with the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) to form a statewide mentorship planning subcommittee. The subcommittee will develop a pathway for a statewide mentorship program operated by DES.

The goal is to establish a mentorship program open to ALL state employees that will support personal and professional development.

Program objectives include:
  • Increasing employee retention and job satisfaction
  • Addressing talent shortages
  • Sharing intellectual knowledge and lived experiences
  • Building a pipeline for senior leadership across the state
  • Creating relationship-building opportunities
  • Providing support for goal setting, career planning and empowered problem-solving.
A key program outcome will be creating an equitable work environment by leveraging diverse mentorship relationships to increase inclusion and break down barriers for marginalized groups.

This survey is to gather information from Washington state agencies that may have mentorship-type programs already available.  Mentorship programs can be approved at the agency level or a more casual system within a unit or team. Our goal is to understand what is currently available, what is working and how they can be included in a statewide mentorship program.
