Tick Photo Submission for Identification

Use this form to submit a photo of a tick for identification. KPH will let you know what species and life stage it is (if identifiable) and which diseases are commonly associated with the tick within 5 business days. This report is intended only to provide information and not medical or diagnostic advice. If you have medical concerns, please see your doctor.

8. Photo Submission Tips 
1) Make sure the tick is removed from person or pet, Follow the CDC's guidance of removing the tick   (https://www.cdc.gov/ticks/removing_a_tick.html) to insure that it is safely removed and in one piece.
2) Place tick on a light background or piece of paper and next to a coin or ruler for size reference. 
3) Try to make sure all mouth part and back is visible. See below for an example.
4) Save the tick in a plastic bag or small jar. We may need to have you bring the tick in person to make a final identification.

This is a good example of a tick photo because it is zoomed in, in focus, well lit, and you can see all of the tick's mouth parts, the shield and pattern on its back, plus all of its legs.
