SURGERYU - The Mind of a Surgeon Video Contest

Calling all medical students, residents, and fellows, including recent graduates! Have you ever performed a surgical technique with such finesse and elegance that you couldn't wait to share it with others? Now is your chance to showcase your skills to the world! Join us for the inaugural "The Mind of a Surgeon Video Contest!" We are thrilled to invite you to demonstrate your surgical expertise through a captivating 3-4 minute first-person point-of-view (POV) narrated surgical video. Instead of focusing on the entire procedure, we encourage you to highlight specific technical aspects of a portion of a procedure that demonstrates your mastery. The contest aims to emphasize high-quality, edited surgical footage and its associated technical nuances, while also showcasing your decision-making process. Examples can include tips for vaginal cuff closure, managing complications, fibroid removal, ureter identification, vaginal entry for TVH, hysteroscopy techniques, and more.

What we're looking for:

Duration: Keep your video between 3-4 minutes for maximum impact and efficiency. Think of it as an Instagram Reels or TikTok drop.
Specific surgical technique: Instead of showcasing the entire procedure, zoom in on a particular surgical technique to provide valuable insights.
Enhancements: The use overlays, symbols, labels, and radiological images is encouraged to enhance the educational value of your video.
Minimal slides: Avoid excessive slide presentations; this contest is about engaging visuals and your first-person narration.
First-person narration: Share your thought process and decision-making as if the viewer is right there with you.

Grading:

The SurgeryU Board will thoroughly evaluate all submissions.
The top 4 videos will be featured on various AAGL media platforms October 1, 2023.
The winner will be determined by a combination of "likes" from the audience (work your influencing magic!) on the various media platforms (50%) and expert review (50%).
The winner will be announced at the AAGL Global Congress in Nashville and will receive 2 tickets to the Presidents Wrap Party.
