Thank you for your interest in receiving reciprocity in Washington State. Please read the following carefully.
When are a court credentialed interpreter in another state and you
may be able to get your credentials in Washington through reciprocity. (WA AOC reserves the right to approve or deny the application)
In Washington State, court interpreters are hired individually by each superior, district, and municipal court and the rates are set by each court. AOC Does not directly offer employment.
Reciprocity Eligibility
- You must have passed the NCSC written exam (Scoring 80% or above)
- You must have passed NCSC Oral Exam (Scoring 70% and above in all three sections in one sitting, No partial passing from multiple exams)
- Languages other than certified category: You must have scored "Superior or higher level" in OPI that WA approves of (Oral Proficiency Interview)
- You are currently in good standing from your state or state who credentialed you initially
When you meet ALL criteria above, you are eligible to apply. (If you fail in any one of the criteria, do not proceed)
Once you fill out your information on this portal, you will receive a confirmation email with further instructions.
