Civil Nuclear R&D Landscape Survey 2023

Introduction

Thank you for agreeing to participate in the Civil Nuclear Research and Development (R&D) Landscape Review 2023. Your contribution is important as it will be used to inform Government understanding of the UK civil nuclear R&D community, its infrastructure and any trends. Additionally, this research means it is possible to assess the effectiveness of previous and existing Government research interventions, and therefore inform future potential interventions.

In this survey, you will be asked to provide information about your organisation’s investment into R&D and/or delivery of R&D. For the purposes of this survey, R&D is defined as, 'any project taking place that seeks to achieve an advance in science or technology'.

Please answer the questions on behalf of your organisation. We are seeking one response per organisation, therefore please collaborate with relevant personnel within your organisation in order to complete the survey as accurately as possible. This will help provide a true reflection of the current nuclear R&D landscape (Financial Year 2022/23). If you are not the correct person in your organisation to answer this survey, please let us know who the most appropriate person is to send this survey to at NuclearSurvey@madano.com.

Madano, an independent research consultancy, has been commissioned by the Nuclear Innovation and Research Office (NIRO) on behalf of the Nuclear Innovation and Research Advisory Board (NIRAB) to conduct this research, which is sponsored by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

This landscape review will be repeated every three or four years to track and measure the evolution of the civil nuclear research landscape.

The civil nuclear landscape survey closes soon.

How to save your answers

  • There is a ‘Save and continue later’ in the top right-hand corner of the screen if you want to save your answers and come back to the survey at another time.
  • When clicking on ‘Save and continue later’, you will be asked to enter your email address. You will then receive an email from the survey platform (Alchemer) with a new, unique survey link.
  • Once you receive this new, unique survey link you will be able to:
    • Retrieve your latest responses to the survey by clicking on the link.
    • Share it with colleagues, so that they are also able to fill out relevant parts of the survey, as needed.
  • Please only share the new, unique survey link generated with colleagues (please do not share the first one shared in the original email invite with them). This is because we only want to receive one survey submission per organisation, and by using the new, unique link you will be able to input answers into the same survey response.
