Magellan Advisors has been retained by the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) to develop a regional broadband master plan for a backbone network to connect its thirty-one cities, three water districts as well as portions of unincorporated Los Angeles County in districts one and five. The broadband master plan’s goal is to support a diverse and Inclusive economy by efficiently meeting the high-speed internet needs of the SGVCOG’s residents and businesses.
The vision is for government agencies, emergency services, schools, libraries, public works and transportation to offer their services faster and more effectively through improved communications, making residents safer, healthier, and more economically competitive. Services provided over the network enable residents to increase their education and employment skills as well as to enter the work-from-home job market and maintain connectivity even under conditions such as the COVID pandemic.
To achieve this vision, we need input from local government leaders, particularly city department directors, from across the region.
