Campus Volunteer Self-Assessment

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in becoming a Southeastern Guide Dogs volunteer! Our campus volunteers truly are the backbone of our community, making meaningful contributions that change the lives of our puppies, dogs, students, and graduates.

Due to the committed service of our current campus volunteers, we only have a limited number of volunteer positions available at this time. These shifts primarily occur early in the morning between 6:00–8:00 a.m., in the evening after 4:00 p.m., or during weekends.

Available Volunteer Opportunities

  • Puppy Academy Helper: Imagine contributing to the earliest stages of a future guide dog's life! In this role, you will provide hands-on support in caring for our precious puppies and their moms. Responsibilities include cleaning, laundry, and meal prep. We ask for a weekly time commitment of 2-3 hours, and it's essential that you're physically capable of lifting, bending, stooping, and working outside, as well as handling household cleaning chemicals.
  • Canine University Helper: Join our staff in creating a stimulating and clean environment for our adult dogs-in-training. You will focus on tasks such as diet preparation, kennel sanitation, and engaging with our dogs in play yards. This fulfilling role requires a weekly commitment of 2-3 hours and involves physical activities like lifting, bending, stooping, outdoor work, and the safe handling of adult dogs.

Ready to embark on this inspiring journey? We invite you to take our brief self-assessment survey to see if volunteering on our campus is the right fit for you. Upon confirmation, you will be invited to fill out a volunteer application and sign up for an upcoming volunteer orientation session on our campus.

Thank you once again for considering this meaningful opportunity with Southeastern Guide Dogs. We eagerly look forward to the possibility of warmly welcoming you to our exceptional volunteer team.
