Cal Poly's
Local Connections program supports out-of-state students and fosters a sense of community in their new home away from home. The program allows Mustangs to find and form lasting support systems throughout their Cal Poly journey, providing opportunities to meet, connect and build long-lasting friendships with fellow out-of-state students and local community members.
Out-of-State Students
Join Local Connections to participate in programming throughout the year and connect with fellow out-of-state students from across the country and beyond who are navigating San Luis Obispo as their new home away from home. Programming may include game nights, local excursions, sporting events, study groups and more!
In addition, you can choose to be connected with a local guide who is ready to share insider tips about the best food in town, top study spots, cool beaches, scenic hikes, local transportation and more.
Local Guides
Cal Poly faculty, staff and local community members are encouraged to join Local Connections as a local guide to connect with a current out-of-state student and offer support, guidance and recommendations. It can be as easy as meeting on campus once a quarter over a cup of coffee.
