The Killuminati Foundation's 13th Annual Project Puppy Gala is Saturday, April 15th at 7:00pm via YouTube which you will be able to find that link on our KF Vet-Help facebook page and website. Project Puppy is SW Missouri's original doggie fashion show featuring locally rescued dogs rockin' the runway in custom designed outfits by Missouri State fashion students. (It's our version of Project Runway meets the Killuminati Foundation.) This is our biggest and best event of the year, and funds raised account for about 95% of our budget to help families/dogs in Missouri with unforeseen vet care needs.

1. Who should be recognized as the Project Puppy 2023 Business of the Year? *This question is required.

417 Motorsports: These folks are the best! They are always willing to help people, animals, and our community in general. They're quick to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. 417 Motorsports is always trying to better our area through civil service - whether that's fostering a medically challenge dog, nursing a reptile back to health when no one said it could be done, sponsoring an event, helping at church, doing a supply drive for people/animals etc - anything they can do to give back, 417 Motorsports is always there to offer a helping hand.
Pet Supplies Plus: While people may or may not know, Pet Supplies Plus was previously Petsway. The same local ownership now owns Pet Supplies Plus. The rebranding has been a long and stressful process I'm sure, but people may not realize just how much these owners/this company love SWMO and how much they give back. They sponsor pretty much every animal related event even. They host numerous adoption events all year long - have family friendly events at their stores - and host community vet clinics to provide low cost options to pet owners. Don't let the name change fool you - these are the same amazing people who live right here in our community with you - trying to make it better each day just like you.

2. Who should be recognized as the Project Puppy 2023 Rescue Story of the Year? *This question is required.

ALFRED: I’ve got to be honest. I feel like Alfred’s rescue story is what I should have done after deciding to adopt him into our family. Although we’d only had him a month, he was deeply loved. I don’t feel like I deserve any recognition - but rather the people keeping eyes on sites and people like you, Stacey, Greg, Brittany etc. You’re all the hero’s that kept eyes and notified me of spottings and helped to bring him home. Those two months are a blur. If I wasn’t working, I was running, searching, dropping food, trying to get him to remember us by walking nearby. I had told Alfred’s previous dad that my oldest son had just experienced 3 seizures back to back shortly before we took him. Me also being epileptic, I thought if Alfred wouldn’t open up with him that maybe just maybe he would with us given the intelligence level of his breed and natural sense. Truth be told - we didn’t rescue Alfred. His dad giving him to us rescued us. Alfred rescues us everyday. He has a very unique bond with my household. We don’t deserve recognition for rescuing him. His dad and he deserve the recognition for rescuing us. I know it was hard for him to hand him off to us and Alfred has very quickly rescued every member of my household after years of a lot of hardships. I’d say if you are looking for a nomination - nominate Alfred. He brings us a lot of love, life, and joy and definitely made us work for it. Smart pup. VIOLET: I would like to nominate Violet's Story for rescue story of the year. Violet was dropped off at Divine Veterinary Clinic in Ozark after being struck by a car in Springfield and left with a shattered pelvis and dislocated hip. The person who picked her up never returned for her and the owner who was located on leighs lost and found never came to get her. With no time to waste, the doctors and staff at Divine Vet Clinic decided that she was now theirs and that she deserved to be given a chance even if no one wanted to be responsible for her. Dr. Divine repaired the very painful dislocation and the staff spoiled her with handfed meals and belly rubs to gain her trust as she was in pain, abandoned and terrified. She slowly made progress and after almost two months she was in good enough shape to be spayed and find the perfect home. She is now residing in Las Vegas with her new owner and they are inseparable!

3. Who should be recognized as the Project Puppy 2023 Veterinary Office of the Year? *This question is required.

COBBLESTONE: Let me tell you about Cobblestone! So, one of my dogs got my cat Gurdy Root. My dad had just passed away and then that happened. Long story short, I couldn’t afford the G-tube nor did I have time/ability to g-tube feed a kitty 5 times a day and keep her safe from the dogs cause we’re in a tiny rental. Well, they had me sign her over to them where they nursed her back to health AND THEN THEY GAVE HER BACK TO US!! 😍 I cried. She’s now living happily with my kids' Dad where she has two other kitty friends and one giant dog to live with.
DIVINE VETERINARY CLINIC: This clinic works with our rescue, and I have also taken personal dogs to them. They do NOT turn away an urgent need for care! Regardless of rather it’s a foster dog or personal dog. I have seen others walk in first thing in the morning with an urgent situation, and they don’t hesitate to help! Where most clinics would turn you away if their schedule is full, they don’t! They always show genuine care and love to each and every fur baby! They save lives and they do great work! And they they do it all with love!
RESCUE ONE CLINIC: I would like to nominate the Rescue One clinic for Veterinary Office of the Year. They take in sick and injured strays for 3-4 counties and do outreach spay and neuter for low cost families. They work with local law enforcement agencies and pick up emergency medical cases, provide care, and almost never being reimbursed when claimed by owner, and caring for 300+ animals at a time within their rescue.

4. Who should be recognized as the Project Puppy 2023 Volunteer of the Year? *This question is required.

DANI HUGHES: I would like to nominate Dani Hughes for volunteer of the year. Dani goes above and beyond to help out all types of animals not just dogs. It isn't unusual to see her on the side of the road helping out wildlife or giving up her weekend plans to drive a rescue dog to wherever it needs to go to give them a shot at a good life. She runs a business, has two small children and still gives all her free time to house, care for and advocate for the dogs that really need and deserve it!
BRENDA TREECE: I would like to nominate Brenda Treece for her dedication to animals, rescue, and her generosity. Brenda quietly gives back at every chance - often taking in dogs that have medical issues and that others won't help. She is not one that likes to be in the spotlight or recognized, so it may be that you don't know Brenda - but you should. Her effort, passion, and willingness to be the first step up when needed does not go unnoticed - nor should it be overlooked. Brenda has been saving lives in SWMO for decades, and it is about time we thank her for it.

5. If we held a Project Puppy VIP Event at a local upscale restaurant that included a delicious dinner, premier VIP gift basket, AND you got to experience Project Puppy 2023 BEFORE anyone else - would you attend? *This question is required.

6. If we hosted that VIP Event, that included all of those amazing benefits, how much would you pay PER PERSON to be able to go? (If tickets were limited to just 30-40 people for the entire event.) *This question is required.
