CCC Prerequisite and Corequisite Report 2022-23

Introduction

Per title 5, section 55003(i) each year districts choosing to establish prerequisites, corequisites, or advisories shall submit to the Chancellor's Office in the manner specified by the Chancellor, the prerequisistes and corequisites that were established during the prior academic year. Districts shall also specify the level of scrutiny, i.e., content review as defined in subdivision (c) of section 55000 or content review with statistical validation as defined in subdivision (e) of this section, used to determine whether the prerequisite or corequisite was necessary and appropriate for achieving the purpose for which it was established.

Level of Scrutiny: Prerequisites and corequisites can be established using different methods, which are labeled "levels of scrutiny." There are two levels of scrutiny: (1) content review with statistical validation or (2) content review alone. Prior to changes to title 5 in 2011 "content review alone" was only permitted for courses within a sequence.  The changes to title 5 in 2011 allow for content review alone for all prerequisites and corequisites. Content review with statistical validation is an option for the establishment of any prerequisite or corequisite.

Curriculum Inventory: To obtain the Course Control Number for your courses and their prerequisites/corequisites access the Curriculum Inventory located at the following URL: https://coci2.ccctechcenter.org/ Course Control Numbers begin with "CCC" and are followed by nine digits.
