Rule 25 Request Form

Rule 25 in the 2023 Rules of Golf modifies certain Rules for players in the following categories of disability:
  • Players who are blind (which includes certain levels of vision impairment),
  • Players who are amputees (which means both those with limb deficiencies and those who have lost a limb),
  • Players who use assistive mobility devices, and
  • Players with intellectual disabilities.
In order to utilize Rule 25, the player must have a Confirmed WR4GD Pass for one of the disability categories listed above.  Players with intellectual disabilities must have a Confirmed WR4GD Pass and Virtus II1 International Eligibility.

If you need to apply for a WR4GD Pass and/or Virtus II1 International Eligibility, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as this process may take several months and in some cases, may require a session with a certified assessor.

Note: The WR4GD Pass, and Virtus II1 International Eligibility for players with intellectual disabilities, replicate the requirements for participation in the U.S. Adaptive Open Championship.

Players wishing to utilize Rule 25 must provide the USGA Championships Department (champs@usga.org) with the following prior to the entry deadline for the respective championship:
  1. WR4GD Pass Number
  2. Virtus II1 International Eligibility number (only for players with intellectual disabilities)
  3. Description of your disability
  4. Description and photos of any adaptive equipment (prosthetics, devices, etc…) that you use to play golf. This will be evaluated by the USGA Equipment Standards department to ensure that all equipment used complies with the Rules of Golf
Players who do not provide the above information prior to the entry deadline may not be eligible to apply Rule 25.
