Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a way of relating to and with others that is designed to enhance patients’ intrinsic motivation for behavior change by developing discrepancies and exploring and resolving ambivalence. This eight-hour workshop will provide healthcare workers and those involved in healthcare with a detailed understanding of the foundations of MI. We will leverage the unique opportunities to learn from one another with in-the-moment feedback that in-person trainings provide, with an emphasis on small-group interactive activities on the second day. Small-group conversations about how MI fits within a patient-centered care framework will allow participants to consider how they might adapt and integrate MI into their current roles.
