Washington's 2023 State Teacher of the Year Dana Miles is eager to meet with education stakeholders and participate in education related events.
Dana will respond to all invitations as quickly as possible. She will accommodate as many requests as her schedule allows. Occasionally, she may refer your request to a Regional Teacher of the Year with expertise in your particular area of interest.
Dana is a Deaf educator. She will work with all requestors to arrange for interpreters and may have follow up questions or specific requests about meeting setup and access so that all participants have the best experience possible. Please be prepared to provide all interview/panel/etc. questions in advance.
Dana's term of service to the Teacher of the Year program runs until June 30, 2023. During this time, OSPI will cover the routine costs of Dana's appearances, including fees, travel, and ASL interpreter services. If your request is for a date after June 30, 2023, Dana will have limited availability. You may be asked to pay a speaking fee and you will need to contract with ASL interpreters. For resources and support in arranging for ASL interpreter services after June 30, 2023, contact
Hilary Seidel.
Please note that securing an interpreter for in person events can take several weeks. If we are not able to secure in person interpreters, we may offer you a remote or asynchronous keynote/presentation with a follow up remote networking session.
