The Smart Energy Provider (SEP) program seeks nominations for two open seats on the SEP Panel. Each seat is available for up to three consecutive two-year terms.
The SEP program is public power’s evaluation and review of leading practices for utilities based on four criteria – smart energy program planning, energy efficiency and distributed energy resources, environmental and sustainability programs, and customer communication and education. The SEP Review Panel (Panel) guides APPA staff in the implementation of the SEP program and provides expert peer review of public power utilities’ applications for SEP recognition.
Nominations for the SEP Review Panel are due Friday, February 17, 2023.
Eligibility: APPA members with expertise in energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, load management, integrated resource planning, and demand-side management.
Responsibilities:
- SEP Panel members commit to a two-year term, with the option to renew their service for up to three consecutive terms.
- SEP Panel members assist with the grading of each year's SEP application.
- SEP Panel members are required to attend two in-person meetings per year (a grading meeting in the summer and a business meeting in the fall). Virtual meetings may be scheduled to address urgent matters.
Recommended Criteria for Nominees: The SEP program is best represented by a Panel comprised of a group of diverse individuals with expertise in energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, load management, integrated resource planning, and demand-side management. Therefore, the SEP Panel will review nominees on the following basis:
