Future Directions for Southern Ocean and Antarctic Nearshore and Coastal Research: Email Sign-Up

The National Academies have convened a new ad hoc committee to provide guidance to the National Science Foundation’s Office of Polar Programs on future directions for Southern Ocean and Antarctic nearshore and coastal research. The committee will identify the highest-priority science drivers, based on prior studies and reports, and determine the capabilities that are essential to support these science drivers. These capabilities include a proposed Antarctic Research Vessel, other U.S. fleet capabilities, potential partnerships with other countries, and current and emerging tools, technologies, and approaches.

Throughout the duration of this project, there will be opportunities for members of the public to engage with the committee. Use this form to sign up for updates and news about the study, and to learn about related work from the National Academies.
