The Hardwick pedestrian bridge replacement project and riverfront park project process includes discussions with stakeholder groups and the community to provide a strategic roadmap for future improvements to the bridge and adjacent public spaces.
This round of engagement and design follows the initial engagement process started in the summer of 2021.
The town currently has $620,000 committed for the bridge replacement project, including removal, abutment improvements, bridge, and installation. Additional funding will be sourced as necessary.
The bridge replacement inspired rethinking of the municipally owned property on either side of the bridge. Potential for redesigning these two places and providing downtown public space is under consideration. The park project will have a separate timeline and funding sources, but the park design will inform bridge construction.
Opportunities for public and stakeholder input will continue to be provided throughout the design process. There will be a preliminary park concept presentation during the winter.
