Vermont Building Demolition Notification Form

Building Demolition Notification Requirements 

 

The Vermont Regulations for Asbestos Control section 9.1 require that prior to any demolition of a building or portion of a building, the building owner must determine through an asbestos assessment the presence of asbestos-containing materials. The assessment must be conducted by a Vermont-licensed asbestos inspectorEven if no asbestos-containing materials are found, the Department of Health must be notified of the demolition using this form 10 working days in advance of the demolition. 

If no asbestos-containing materials are found:

  • The building owner must notify the Health Department within 10 working days before the demolition begins using this form. 

If asbestos-containing materials are found, and these materials will be disturbed due to demolition, then:

  • The building owner must notify the Health Department within 10 working days before the demolition begins using this form.
  • Asbestos-containing materials must be removed by a Vermont-licensed asbestos abatement company before the demolition.

14. Was asbestos containing building material found during the asbestos inspection?  *This question is required.
15. Upload the asbestos inspection report. Maximum allowable file size is 500 KB. Reduce the size of the file to upload it. If you are unable to upload it here, email it to ALRP@vermont.gov with the address of the property in the subject line of the email. The asbestos inspection report MUST be submitted to ALRP either by uploading it here or emailing it.
