Great!  As someone who is not-yet-certified in early childhood education, you still have multiple options for teaching positions. You may qualify to be a lead teacher on a study plan, an assistant teacher or a teacher's aide. Study plan lead teacher candidates are individuals who plan to pursue their teacher certification in early childhood education (within three years) while working as a lead teacher in our New York City Early Education Centers (NYCEECs).

NYCEECs are community-based, independent organizations that contract with the DOE to provide free, high-quality early childhood programming: There are 1,200 NYCEEC sites that offer diverse options for families across all five boroughs.  The majority of new teaching positions are in NYCEECs. Please note that as a not-yet-certified candidate, you are only eligible to work in a NYCEEC setting and not in a district school.
