Registration Form for 22-23 World Language Wednesday: Ready for the New Standards

It's an exciting time for World Languages in New York with fall 2023 beginning the implementation of the revised NYS Learning Standards for World Languages, starting with 7th grade.  Over this three-session series designed for middle school educators, participants will learn about the revised standards, instructional practices, and resources available to better engage and excite their learners starting in their Level 1 courses.

Session 1: Ready for the New Standards
During this first session, participants will engage with the revised NYS World Language Standards, the impleentationa timeline, and important concepts. Participants will also engage with sample lesson sequences, gain an understanding of the design, as well as consider how they can utilize the templates for their own planning process.

Session 2: Instructional Practices for the New Standards
During this second session, participants will deepen their understanding of the standards and engage with reflective resources so they can implement culturally-responsive instructional practices so learner meet the new standards.

Session 3: Planning for New Standards
During this third session, participants will debrief classroom application of instructional practice, engage in a unit audit, as well as collaborative planning to amplify current resources for the standards. 
 

Attendance at all three sessions is required. This series is offered three times (fall, winter, spring), all 3-4:15pm on Zoom. The content is the same so register for the cohort that is best for you. CTLE will be provided.

  • Cohort 1: October 19, November 2, and November 30, 2022

  • Cohort 2: January 25 (*change), February 8, and March 1, 2023

  • Cohort 3: March 22, April 19, and May 10, 2023
