Leaders of Tomorrow - Immigrant and Refugee Youth Sense of Belonging to School or Community

Leaders of Tomorrow is a leadership program developed by the Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) with a curriculum co-created by immigrant and refugee youth. Leaders of Tomorrow aims to support and mobilize immigrant and refugee youth through opportunities to expand their knowledge, strengthen their skills, access tools and resources, and improve their circumstances and those of all children, youth, adults, and families in their communities. IEL published a guidebook in 2021 to support the youth leadership development for immigrant and refugee youth.

IEL hopes to better understand and document the current structures and practices that create and sustain a sense of belonging among immigrant and refugee youth. The information collected from this survey and focus groups conducted with immigrant and refugee youth on belonging will be used to update the guidebook by adding a new section on belonging. This survey will take you less than 10 minutes to complete. If you have any questions regarding this survey or the guidebook, please contact Sabrina Sheikh (sheikhb@iel.org).
