Strengthening and redeveloping Rotorua Museum includes replacement of some of the clay tiles that form the iconic orange roof of the Bath House building.
The Friends of Rotorua Museum have contacted artists to create works of art on roof tiles that become ‘A Piece of History.’ These artworks form a unique exhibition at Rotorua Arts Village from 28 July until 3 August 2022.
Some of the artists will be: Tame Iti, Regan Balzer, Mark Spijkerbosch, Judith Prictor, Kellez McManus, Derk Schepers, Kayrene Trask, Robin Harland and Jean Vandermolen.
The exhibition ends with an auction of all painted tiles on Wednesday 3 August 2022 at 5.30pm.
You may be unable to attend the auction in person, but you won’t miss out as you can submit your bid in this online form.
All funds raised will go towards acquisitions for Rotorua Museum.
A Piece of History will be on display at the Rotorua Arts Village (1240 Hinemaru Street) from 28 July until 3 August 2022 (Tuesday – Friday: 9am – 3.30pm, Saturdays: 10am – 2pm, closed Sunday, Monday and public holidays).
