The Small Business Technical Assistance Grant Program is awarding mini grants to small businesses with 50 or fewer employees going through the Building or Development Review process to provide small businesses in Fort Collins with technical assistance. 

Note: These mini grants cannot go towards City fees or building and infrastructure improvements.
 
A business may be awarded a maximum of $4,000 for qualifying services where invoices are required upon project completion and an additional maximum of $6,000 with submittal of invoices for reimbursement. If applied for all at once, the additional maximum of $6,000 will be placed on a 60-day hold or until invoices are provided, whichever is shorter. If invoices are not provided before the 60-day hold, an additional application must be submitted.  Total invoices must be submitted within one year of project completion for reimbursement. 
 
Businesses must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this mini grant: 
  • 50 or fewer employees, 
  • Located in Fort Collins city limits,  
  • Going through the Development Review and/or Building Review process, 
  • And has not received the maximum allowable Technical Assistance grant funding in the last 12 months. 
 
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis. Funds will be distributed on a first come, first served basis for eligible Building and Development Review projects. Funds must be used towards projects that are applying for one or more of the following processes: 
  • Building Permit
  • Change of Use and/or Tenant Finish
  • Basic Development Review (BDR)
  • Major Amendment (MJA)
  • Minor Amendment (MA)
  • Addition of Permitted Use (APU)
  • Project Development Plan (PDP)
  • Final Development Plan (FDP)
  • Minor Subdivision
 
All awarded funds will need to be spent for the specified service(s) as follows: 
  • Project Management 
  • Site Planning 
  • Landscape Design 
  • Civil/Structural Engineering 
  • Surveying 
  • Lighting Design 
  • Architecture 
  • Sprinkler Design 
  • Fire Consultation 
  • Environmental Consultation 
  • Hazard Consultation 
  • Construction and Contracting
 
If you have a specific technical service request for funding that is not reflected in the list above, please describe the technical assistance you would like to request grant funding for in the application. 

Application Process 
 
Applications will be evaluated for: 
  1. Completion: the entire application is filled out 
  2. Purpose: your purpose for the assistance funds and how funds will be used 
  3. Paperwork submission: all required paperwork submitted:
  • W9 
  • Secretary of State Certificate of Good Standing 
  • Current City of Fort Collins sales tax license of Good Standing
  • Invoices (when applicable)
 
Other Requirements: 
  • Business must obtain qualifying services from a qualified local provider; and 
  • Applicants are encouraged to select service providers located within the City and Growth Management Area to help support local businesses. 
  • Business must agree to allow the City access to its records to audit the use of funds, at the City’s discretion.
