Disposable Bag Ordinance-Feedback Survey

On February 16, 2021, City Council passed a Disposable Bag Ordinance that banned plastic bags and put a fee on paper bags at large grocers starting May 1, 2022. City Council also passed a resolution referring the bag ordinance to the April ballot on the same day. On April 6, 2021, Fort Collins voters approved the ballot measure.

On March 1, 2022, City Council passed the Disposable Bag Ordinance with the new amendments. Including aligning with the State at a 10-cent fee per paper bag.

As of May 1, 2022, large grocers in Fort Collins no longer provide plastic grocery bags (the kind used to carry groceries out of the store) and charge customers 10-cents for each paper bag used. More information on the Ordinance can be found here.
