2023 YP Summit Committee Application: Committee Leadership Positions

Thank you for your interest in applying to serve a leadership role on the 2023 YP Summit Planning Committee!

YP Summit is the largest young professionals’ conference in the country—with 1,500+ attendees each year. This year we'll be going back in-person and the conference will bring together young professionals for a day filled of education, inspiration and connection.

YP Summit Chair, Vice Chair, Sub-committee chairs, and members help design it all, from breakout speakers to award winners to event activities, and truly make this event possible. Whether you want to brush up on your event planning skills or just want to collaborate with other change-making young professionals, being a member of the YP Summit Planning Committee is a great opportunity to build experience and connections.

Chair Expectations
  • Attend and lead monthly full-committee meeting (1.5 hours)
  • Attend bi-weekly sub-committee chair meetings (30 minutes - 1 hour)
  • Oversee entire event and deliverables (strategy focused)
  • Communicate with sub-committee chairs, Chamber staff, and members in between meetings
  • Work closely alongside Vice Chair
  • Volunteer the day of the event (Full day, March 24, 2023)

Vice-Chair Expectations

  • Attend monthly full-committee meeting (1.5 hours)
  • Attend bi-weekly sub-committee chair meetings (30 minutes - 1 hour)
  • Oversee entire event and deliverables (execution focused)
  • Assist with and lead awards and scholarships
  • Communicate with sub-committee chairs, Chamber staff, and members in between meetings
  • Work closely alongside YP Summit Chair
  • Volunteer the day of the event (Full day, March 24, 2023)


Sub-Committee Chair Expectations

  • Attend monthly full-committee meeting (1.5 hours)
  • Attend bi-weekly sub-committee chair meetings (30 minutes - 1 hour)
  • Lead weekly team meetings (30 minutes - 1 hour)
  • Oversee committee direction and deliverables
  • Communicate with team members in between meetings
  • Work closely alongside YP Summit Chair & Vice Chair
  • Volunteer the day of the event (Full day, March 24, 2023)

Selections Lead
Goal: Select quality speakers and content

Participant Experience Lead
Goal: Create a memorable experience for everyone involved. The Participant Experience (PX) Chair will co-lead the PX Committee with the DEIA Lead.
  • Pre-function engagement space for attendees
  • Look & feel of event (décor, signage, activities)
  • Day of logistics & execution
  • Volunteer coordination
  • Post-party engagement
  • Co-lead PX Committee with DEIA Lead

DEIA Lead
Goal: Create a memorable experience and focus on ways to create a more inclusive and accessible event. The DEIA Lead will co-lead the Participant Experience (PX) committee, but will specifically focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility related items. The DEIA Lead will also be pulled into other committee meetings to ensure we create the most accessible and inclusive event possible.

  • Coordinate with Sub-Committee Leads and provide insight on diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Hype & Promotions Chair
Goal: Promote the event through creative messaging and outlets
  • Social media content
  • Newsletter content
  • Event app
  • Public Relations / Partnerships / Community Communications
  • Coordinate with DEIA Chair to create inclusive and accessible social media content
