2022 Virtual Book Club Registration

Welcome

The NAAE Virtual Book Club is a fun way for agricultural educators to personalize their professional development. NAAE members can participate in the Virtual Book Club and earn professional development credit or CEU's.

The NAAE Virtual Book Club seeks to develop agricultural educators in the following ways:

  • build understanding of students' needs as readers by engaging in reading and reflection
  • experience professional development as an engaged learner inquiring into and reflecting on teaching and learning goals
  • engage in deep conversations, layer personal experiences with literacy learning, and probe instructional issues

2022 participants will read The Legacy of The New Farmers of America, by Dr. Antoine Alston and Dr. Dexter Wakefield. You can purchase the book on Amazon or at Barnes & Noble

Participants will be required to read the book and engage in the NAAE Virtual Book Club assignments, participate in small discussion group conference calls and/or discussion threads. Professional development credit will be awarded at the end of the last scheduled virtual event. This year up to 12 hours of professional development credit will be awarded. We welcome all interested participants, however only Active NAAE Members and Student Members are eligible to receive professional development credit. If you are unsure about your membership status, please contact Ashley Hood.

Additionally, the book club is self-paced, and you can sign up at any point this summer to complete assignments for credit. However, we recommend registering by June 8th in order to receive the full benefit of participation and engagement with the community.
