Decadal Survey for Solar and Space Physics (Heliophysics) 2024-2033
Summary: The National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine is seeking nominations for the Decadal Survey for Solar and Space Physics/Heliophysics steering committee and supporting study panels. Nominations must be received by May 3, 2022 for full consideration. The third National Academies’ Solar and Space Physics/Heliophysics (SSPH) Decadal Survey 2024- 2033 is ongoing. This Decadal Survey will present a prioritized strategy of basic and applied research to advance scientific understanding of the Sun, Sun-Earth connections and the origins of space weather, the Sun’s interactions with other bodies in the solar system, and the interplanetary and the interstellar medium. The Decadal Survey will also assess the health and vitality of the profession. The National Academies will appoint approximately 100 community members to serve on the steering committee or one of its panels, and many more will participate via white paper submissions and outreach events.
