A team of 20 engaged educators have come together to develop relevant and accessible educational resources for beginning farmers and educators in Michigan. The learning materials will be in English and Spanish and will include hands-on and virtual programming. These materials will be available to beginning farmer training program educators and individual beginning farmers.
The curriculum will provide programmatic guidance to enhance both classroom-based and experiential learning opportunities and to encourage peer to peer learning. It will also provide guidance to develop programs such as farmers’ guilds and farming internships. Finally, the curriculum will help educators to modify content to address trainees’ different learning styles.
